How Do I Trust God?

Proverbs 3:5-6 instructs us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight” (CSB, emphases added).

I love this translation of this verse. We must know God in all of our ways.

This is the secret to trusting in the the Lord with all our hearts—to trusting Him to actually guide our paths.  We must know Him.

We must know Him in our work and in our friendships, in our marriages and in our singleness.  We must know Him in our parenting and in our mentoring. We must know Him in our struggles, in our finances, and in our fears.

No area of our lives is off-limits.  We need to become so intimately acquainted with God that He permeates every aspect of our lives and identities.

In knowing Him, we will start to act like HIm. In knowing Him, we will begin to recognize His fingerprints at work in our lives. We will begin to see the paths He has for us.

And in knowing Him, our hearts and minds will learn to trust Him.

Until next time,

Shelby
