When You Feel Unworthy for What You Haven’t Done

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ(Colossians 3:23-24, emphasis added).

To the one feeling unworthy today, not because of anything you have done, but perhaps because of what you feel you haven’t done…“You are serving the Lord” (Colossians 3:24).

  • To the one changing diapers who dreams of changing the world…you are serving the Lord.
  • To the one whose paintbrushes are now for freshening the walls instead of brightening canvases…you are serving the Lord.
  • And to he one whose mission has become the neighborhood instead of the world…you are serving the Lord.

It is okay to have big dreams—they may be God-given dreams. But don’t let those dreams change your present reality into a lie. God calls you to serve right where you are—right there in the middle of what you are already doing. And—hear this—you are worthy simply because God loves you, and not because of what you do.

And the beautiful reality is that when we submit our lives, our actions, and our words to the Lord—no matter how small they may seem—we are serving the Lord.

So change the diapers with love and joy—you are changing the life of a child!

Paint the walls with thanksgiving and peace—you are creating a haven and a home!

And take bread to the neighbor and speak words of encouragement—you are letting God’s light shine into a dark and lonely world!

Until next time,

Shelby
