“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing” (Zephaniah 3:17).

The presence of 24/7 news, societal strife, and the world’ noisy clamor take a toll on my small, simple soul. Add in my own personal struggles, and sometimes I feel an almost desperate need for peace.
I’ve been exploring Zephaniah 3:17, and today’s focus brings me to tears: “He will quiet you with His love.”
The feeling this evokes in me is intimate and personal. I think of holding my child in my arms after they had a bad dream, or of twining my arms around my husband, my head in the crook of his neck as he lets me hide for a moment from the world.
When we submit to Christ and are reconciled to God, that is the kind of love and peace we receive—only infinitely greater. God’s love is steadfast—always true and without end (Lamentations 3:22-23). And He is always greater than whatever fear or turmoil we face (1 John 4:4; Ephesians 3:20).
So if the chaos of the world feels like an assault, allow yourself to run into the arms of your Savior. Immerse yourself in His love. Close your eyes, climb up in His lap, and ask your Heavenly Father if you can just sit with Him for a while. And let His love calm and quiet your soul.
Until next time,
Shelby
