Jesus Could Have Thrown the Stone

And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, ‘Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her’” (John 8:7).

The crowd that sought to condemn could only walk away.

But there stood one person in the crowd who could have thrown the stone.

One without sin. One with every right to judge.

Jesus could have thrown the stone.

But Jesus knew He would become the condemnation the woman deserved.

He would receive the punishment that was hers to bear.

And He would pay the price she could not pay.

So Jesus chose mercy, and instead of lifting a stone, He extended grace.

And that’s our story, too.

Like the woman, we stood guilty, and Jesus stood ready.

Not to crush us, but to save us.

Until next time,

Shelby
