Part 1
“But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope:” (Lamentations 3:21)

Notice how this verse ends? That little punctuation mark isn’t a period but a colon. The thought isn’t done, the image isn’t complete—there’s something important coming.
The author (likely Jeremiah) is in the midst of terrible affliction and uncertainty, crying out to God in lament. But he finds hope, not just in thinking generally about God, but by intentionally calling to mind promises and attributes of God that He has hidden in his heart.
Friend, we need to do the same. So for the next few weeks we are going to look at Jeremiah’s “anchors” and back them up with scripture to help keep our feet on solid ground.
Spoiler alert, here are the main attributes we will explore with Jeremiah:
- God’s steadfast love
- God’s mercy
- God’s daily provision
- God’s faithfulness
If you want, start thinking about verses you know that speak of these things—we can share them to encourage one another and build a shared arsenal of scripture!
Until next time,
Shelby
